Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Search terms submitted there are not logged or retained by us.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be retained long enough to review and answer it. We keep such correspondence within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the servers automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is reported
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure use, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this information into traffic reports. A browser can reject cookies through its settings, although disabling them may change how some website functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the applicable search partner
- Maintaining website availability and performance
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Published material provides general routing information for Hartford Police, Connecticut Superior Court, DESPP's State Police Bureau of Identification, Connecticut DOC, and the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a personal file about someone else. This privately run resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider decides how long it retains data and whether it shares that data. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hartford Police services, Connecticut court portals, state agencies, legal resources, or independent search tools. Once a visitor follows an outside link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select interest-based ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Outside search providers processing a submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so the absence of a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If information from a minor is identified, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Data Rights
The Connecticut Data Privacy Act, CGS ยงยง42-515 through 42-526, may grant additional rights when its coverage thresholds apply to the data and processing at issue. Depending on those requirements, a person may be able to:
- Request access to personal data held about that person
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek deletion of covered personal data
- Opt out of specified forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
Effective date: July 17, 2026
